A quick note to wish you all the best for the silly season. We’ll be back in February 2012 hosting our Producer of the Month.
In the meantime come on in-store and check out all of our hand chosen wines. If it’s in the store, we’ve rated it. Support the independents, support the small producer – there’s more to wine than the supermarket chains.

Join us in store for a FREE tasting of the following wines, hosted by the winemaker Celine Rousseau herself, Friday November 18th, 2011 from 6-8pm.
Chalkers Crossing, Sauvignon Blanc, 2010, Tumbarumba
A wine made in the classical sauvignon Blanc style of Bordeaux, a technique the wine maker no doubt learnt during her tuition. This straight sauvignon blanc has been partially barrel fermented, mellowing out the aggressive fruit characters that this variety exhibits. This is a subtle wine with layers of textural complexity over restrained passionfruit and ripe citrus flavours. While an interesting wine this is a very accessible style. If ever there was a Sauvignon Blanc for everyone, this is it.
Chalkers Crossing, Cabernet Sauvignon, 2009, Hilltops
A classic cool climate cabernet with all the hallmarks of a great drink, this wine shows typical aromas of fruits of the forest, cassis, cedar and mint. While herbaceous, this wine is not overbearingly green as there is great concentration here, allowing for the 16 months on French oak to properly integrate. On the palate, there are red currents, brambly wild berries and a swathe of silky tannins. A great value wine in an accessible style.
Chalkers Crossing, Chardonnay, 2009, Tumbarumba
This is a delightfully balanced Chardonnay showing immediately a restrained but not closed nose of nectarine, cashew and and yeasty biscuit. On the palate their is much more fruit expression with flavours of fresh grapefruit, citrus, melon, minerals and again a nutty character. This wine is crisp on the finish with revitalizing acidity and very subtle vanilla and spicy oak notes. An altogether easy wine to enjoy with a smoooth texture.
Chalkers Crossing, Shiraz CC2 2010, Hilltops
Medium red with purple tints. This shiraz has dark cherry and black pepper aromas that are matched by subtle spicy oak. The palate is complex with red berries and fine-grained tannins. Medium bodied – with 12 months maturation in French and American oak barriques. Serve this wine with Red meat, smoked meat and soft cheeses. This wine is a lovely drink now, but can be cellared and enjoyed up to 2020.
