Robbie Burns Day Whisky Tasting: Haggis and Drams!

06/01/2016

As Scotland’s most famous poet, Robert ‘Rabbie’ Burns – the Bard Of Ayrshire – has inspired many a drinking session the world over. None of these are more impressive, though, than the sessions that take place each year on January 25, Burns’ birthday.

Ranging from respectable and traditional multi-course sit-down dinners, to lively poetry recitals where Scotch whisky is drunk from always-full 7-ounce tumblers, tributes to Burns always have a few things in common. Storytelling, friendship and good whisky.

To mark this year’s Burns Day, Monday 25 January, the Oak Barrel will once again be hosting its very own, intimate Robbie Burns Whisky Tasting. The Oak Barrel’s Scott Fitzsimons will be joined by William Grant & Sons’ (Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Kininvie) Australian Whisky Specialist (and bonafide Scotswoman) Laura Hay to share stories, pour whisky with some Scottish-inspired finger foods and nibbles to boot (read: haggis).

Spaces are strictly limited to this long-table, intimate affair.

Tickets on sale now, $60 for members and $70 for non-members. Whiskies to be confirmed in the coming week - but we will be kicking off with the Isle Of Arran's Robbie Burns single malt!
