04/08/2016

Citizens,
More  wild brews from Almanac & the return of Anderson Valley 128 Blood Orange Gose. Perfect weather for drinking funky brews.

NEW ON THE SHELF :

Almanac Elephant Heart de Brettaville 6.5%
Elephant Heart de Brettaville takes its name from Elephant Heart plums, a fruit prized for its ruby red flesh and berry-like tartness. We began with a brett-fermented ale and aged it in wine barrels with this succulent stone fruit, then generously dry-hopped with
El Dorado right before packaging.
This bright farmhouse ale balances the candy-like sweetness of the fruit and hops with brettanomyces funk to create a complex
brew, perfect for pairing with roasted lamb or Manchego cheese.   RB  =  99

Almanac Apricot de Brettaville Sour/Wild Ale 6.5%
For this special release, we set out with the goal of making a beer where every ingredient and process contributed to one ambition: creating layers of apricot flavor. The natural flavors of the brett yeast create tropical and stone fruit flavors in the barrel, which we matched with a small mountain of San Joaquin Valley apricots and finish with a delicate dry hop of aromatic hops. The result is every aspect of the beer, from the yeast, to the fruit to the hops add apricot flavor and aroma – resulting in a delicious wild ale.   RB   =  98

Almanac Tropical Platypus Sour/Wild Ale 6%
This special tropical ale is brewed in celebration of City Beer Store’s 10th Anniversary. Inspired by their adorable Platypus mascot, this equatorial sour blonde ale is aged in used wine barrels and oak foeders with an array of tropical fruits. We selected barrels with fruit-forward characters, and amplified those notes with the addition of kiwi, mango, lime and passionfruit. We tied the whole blend together with the addition of aromatic Galaxy hops from New Zealand. The finished beer is a tropical explosion, worthy of our duck-billed inspiration. Pair with celebratory anniversaries, pupu platters and white sand beaches.

When Almanac was in its infancy, City Beer Store was already a craft beer institution in San Francisco. They constantly fought for the craft beer industry and provided a home for new breweries looking to make a mark. In fact, they were the first to sell Almanac’s beer. This beer honors 10 years of providing a home for craft beer.    RB  =  99

Almanac Hoppy Sour: Mandarina Sour/Wild Ale 7%
Mandarina Bavaria hops are Germany’s answer to the bold, vivacious US varieties found in West Coast-style brews. This hop is the daughter of Cascade and Hallertau, combining characteristic New World citrus flavors and aromas with the subtle spice of German noble hops. We blended our wine barrel-aged sour blonde ale with foeder-fermented brett saison to craft a complex base of stone fruit, oak, and earthy funk to compliment the tangerine and lime-like character of Mandarina. Each sip teases a new flavor, from grass to grapefruit to peaches and finishes crisp and dry.  RB  = 99

''Oops , ordered to much of this one - Have dropped the price to help move it through.''

Anderson Valley Highway 128 Blood Orange Gose 4.2%
Our Blood Orange Gose is a tart, refreshing wheat ale that is kettle-soured with lactobacillus and brewed with sea salt and coriander. However, unlike traditional versions of the style, ours features liberal additions of blood oranges during fermentation. This imparts tangy citrus notes that complement the champagne-like flavors, creating a complex and sessionable ale perfect for any occasion.

Drink well
