New In Store and Upcoming Events

It's exciting times for whiskies and spirits here at the Oak Barrel - lots of upcoming events and some special new releases in store.

You should probably bookmark the upcoming events for Whiskies & Spirits page (you can find it here) as well as the Calendar, which has all of The Oak Barrel's events (you can find that here) as things are selling out incredibly quickly. There's lots coming up, including some Fairs which you should buy tickets to/keep the dates free.

Most immediately, however, this Saturday we'll be joined by the team from FAIR Spirits. Based out of France, FAIR boasts not only Fair Trade ingredients from around the world but some pretty delicious spirits and liqueurs.

From 2pm (until 4-ish) rock up to the front counter for a free tasting of the following range:

FAIR Vodka
FAIR Café Liqueur (coffee liqueur)
FAIR Goji Liqueur

Come say hi!

And what's new in store this mid-May? Here's a selection:

Laphroaig Berry's Own 2007 Single Cask

Indie bottlings, let alone single cask, cask strength ones, from Laphroaig are extremely rare these days. We're very excited about this 18-year-old Laphroaig, but with only a dozen or so bottles coming into Australia it's not going to last long.

Edradour 2002 Single Cask Marsala Finish

A tiny distillery we see far too little of in Australia, we've snagged one bottle of this single cask release that seems to have sold out around the world by the time it landed on our shelves.

Pikesville Straight Rye

A multiple award winner (San Fransisco, World Whiskies Awards, Jim Murray's Whisky Bible) this has flown off the shelves before we had a chance to put it into an email. Only a handful of bottles left. Seriously tasty juice, the staff are going to snap it up if no one else does.

Clynelish Artist Series 20-Year-Old Single Cask

Bottled for the famed (and rare) Artist series by La Maison du Whisky, a 20-year-old single cask from the fmaously waxy Clynelish distillery. Only one left.

Caol Ila Artist Series 30-Year-Old Single Cask

Again bottled for LMDW, incredibly rare single cask stock. You might see 30 year old Caol Ila around, but finding single cask cask strength expressions is a different challenge.

Caroni 17-Year-Old Berry's Own Rum

Sometimes described as the Port Ellen of rum distilleries. Some might say that's a little bit romantic but stock from this famous Trinidad distillery, closed in 2002, is becoming harder to find while the distillery reputation continues to cliimb. This is robust, complex expression from Berry's Own (typical Caroni, then). One of 240 bottles.
