Bobar's Top Shelf Natural Wines

11/08/2016

One of the stars of last month's Oak Barrel Wine Fair - the delicious Gamay was a crowd favourite - I would like to consecrate this newsletter to formally introducing Bobar wine from Yarra Valley. Made by young winemaker husband and wife team Tom and Sally Belford, we were lucky to nab Tom last month as he's a hard man to catch in Sydney due to the vineyard and family duties.

Having studied and worked in France and Australia in the past 20 years, they made their first wine for themselves in 2010 under the name Bobar ("lie" in the French slang). There is no lie in the skill of their winemaking though.

Growing their own grapes organically and sourcing fruit from a couple of vineyards, they adde pretty much nothing to the wine. They are making wine with love and expressing the best expression of their ‘terroir’. The wine is unfined and unfiltered and made in the most natural way - and that’s why we love it. A perfect combination of expertise for this small family enterprise!

In store now, three exceptionally well made natural wines.

Wine available:

Bobar Gamay 2016

Bobar 'Royale' Chardonnay 2015

Bobar Syrah 2010

Chalkers Crossing CC2 Shiraz 2014

Also, having been a long-term stockist of Chalkers Crossing wines at the Oak Barrel we're stoked for the recent acclaim around their latest release Shiraz CC2. They won the first place of 5,000 shiraz at the Sydney Royal Show, becoming one of the first small winery to win. It's also one of the best value for the money drops that has ever won the compeition. Won't last for ever!! Only $22.95 per bottle and $17.95 in any 6 for members.
