Glenfarclas Masterclass: Stay Classy In Old Age

You may have seen it in this year’s Sydney Whisky Fair program, or had it whispered to you at the Glenfarclas stand, and we here at The Oak Barrel are happy to confirm the line-up for what is going to be an amazing Glenfarclas whisky tasting.

The history family-owned Speyside distillery is one of Scotland’s best loved, for their spirit but also their approach and history. For years they’ve had one of the best (and well-priced) supplies of aged stock on the market. A rapid increase in demand for their whisky has led to some inevitable shortages globally, particularly for their oldest lines.

Glenfarclas has always been a slow maturing whisky, not losing as much to the angels share as some of the other distilleries but also revealing an elegance envied by their neighbours.

Our masterclass will take place Wednesday 28 September and while showcase every step of the whisky’s maturation – from its early baby steps to the comfortable relax into old age.

Hosted by Glenfarclas’ Australian educator Michael Riitano, the tasting includes the veritable 30 and 40-year-old whiskies, which have been in extremely short supply in the past two years. We’ll be rushing a couple of bottles out (with their new looks) for the tasting.

It’s a very rare opportunity to try the full range of ongoing expressions if you weren’t drinking whisky a few years ago when they were far more accessible. For those who were, it’s a chance to reacquaint yourself with some old friends to see how the past decade has treated them.
