Domaine A tasting with Peter Althaus (owner and winemaker)

13/02/2016

Established in 1973 by Peter and Ruth Althaus, the historic Stoney Vineyard is the oldest vineyard in Tasmania’s Coal River Valley. Just half an hour drive from Hobart, Domaine A is set in one of the most pristine natural environments in the world. In a small 11-hectare single vineyard, Althaus grows classic Bordeaux varieties, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Petit Verdot, and Pinot Noir, along with the white grape Sauvignon Blanc.

Domaine A is recognised as one of Australia’s most iconic producers and is a definite must try. This is an excellent opportunity to try a range of exceptional wines (current and back vintages) with the winemaker.

What the critics have to say:

“Domaine A – Australia’s best Cabernet?” — Max Allen, The Future Makers

“Outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity...made without compromise, and reflect the low yields from the immaculately tended vineyards. ” —James Halliday, Wine Companion
