Australian Whisky Tasting 2018

With our Australian whisky shelves starting to look healthy again it’s time to announce another of our Australian Whisky Tastings – a look at what’s new in the local scene.

The Oak Barrel’s whisky expert will be presenting six whiskies from around the country, all released within the second half of 2017 – or the start or 2018.

From old favourites like Sullivans Cove and in-house favourites like country New South Wales’ Black Gate, we’ll also introduce some brand new operations – like South Australia’s Fleurieu and Heartwood’s new independent bottler spin-off Tasmanian Independent Bottlers.

We’ve got a few tricks up our sleeve, and we’ll be confirming more exact bottles towards the date, but rest assured we’ll have some pretty tasty and innovative booze.

As well as introducing each dram, the distillery and the people behind it – we’ll also use the opportunity to look at the industry as a whole. 2018 is shaping up as the start or one of the most exciting periods for Australian whisky in the past few years, with a lot of old favourite returning to cycle and new distilleries ready to come online.
